A Chicago man was detained in northwest Indiana more than a month after a deadly shooting on the city’s South Side.
Carlos Keith, 32, was detained Wednesday in the 2200 block of North Main St. in Crown Point, Indiana.
He was identified as the suspect who fatally shot a 33-year-old man on August 31 in the 6300 block of South Elizabeth St. in Englewood.
Around 2:46 a.m. that day, officers responded to a complaint about a person being shot inside a home. Police claimed the victim and Keith knew each other and were bickering when Keith allegedly pulled out a revolver and shot the man in the head before fleeing.
The victim died at the scene. The Cook County medical examiner identified him as Cedric D. Hicks.
It is unknown what sparked the argument or how investigators identified Keith in Indiana.
Keith faces one felony count of first-degree murder. His detention hearing is planned for Thursday at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse.
