Authorities in Texas located two Colorado children who had been stolen by their noncustodial mother on Saturday and reportedly attempted to take them to Mexico, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
Adams County sheriff’s authorities stated in a Sunday afternoon news release that Magali Mejia Sanchez, 31, is prohibited from contacting her biological children, an 11-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies in Adams County responded to a parental abduction report on Saturday in the 8600 block of Faraday Street.
According to authorities, Sanchez allegedly removed the children from their legal guardian and informed him that she planned to take them to Mexico.
Sanchez is prohibited from contacting her children and is only permitted to see them on supervised visits, according to deputies.
During the one-day inquiry, law enforcement in Texas and Adams County swiftly identified Sanchez in Texas, prompting the sheriff’s office to issue a statewide Amber Alert.
The authorities subsequently issued an arrest warrant. Fredericksburg police in Gillespie County, Texas, detained Sanchez without incident at 2 p.m. MDT, according to the sheriff’s office.
Sanchez was detained for breaking her protective order, which is a class 1 misdemeanor.
