On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, deputies with Constable Jerry Garcia’s Special Operations Unit, working with the DEA-Galveston Regional Office, apprehended 42-year-old Joseph Ray Pittman after a lengthy narcotics investigation.
Pittman was arrested in the 8500 block of South Sam Houston Parkway, in a business parking lot, after deputies spotted him engaging in another alleged drug transaction.

During the arrest, deputies discovered a concealed weapon on Pittman, which he was carrying without a holster, as well as a big amount of narcotics in his vehicle. Investigators discovered several controlled narcotics, including fentanyl, heroin, powdered and crack cocaine, Xanax, hydrocodone, and carisoprodol (Soma), all packaged for trafficking.
Pittman later cooperated with officials, revealing larger amounts of fentanyl and multiple guns at his home, which were taken as evidence.
He now faces two charges: possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and felon in possession of a firearm.
Constable Jerry Garcia commended the DEA-Galveston Regional Office for its cooperation and stressed his department’s ongoing commitment to battling illegal drug distribution.
“We’ll keep targeting this kind of criminal activity to make a real difference in our communities and get these dangerous drugs off our streets,” Garcia said.
