Missing Louisiana Teenager Discovered Hidden In Pennsylvania Basement; Man Charged

A missing juvenile from Louisiana was discovered hidden in a basement box at a home in Pittsburgh’s Brighton Heights neighborhood, according to authorities.

According to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, the girl was located Thursday after a Childline Report prompted federal officials and the department’s Special Victims Unit to conduct a search warrant at a Davis Avenue home.

Investigators found the body concealed inside a sheet-covered box in the basement.

After being rescued, she told police that she had met Ki-Shawn Crumity, 26, through Snapchat. Crumity allegedly offered to assist her in arranging an adoption with a trusted adult.

According to the federal complaint, the child left Louisiana and met a woman at a Greyhound bus terminal in Washington, D.C., who took her to her Pittsburgh residence. Crumity allegedly provided the child with edibles and alcohol before sexually assaulting her for a week.

According to authorities, Crumity admitted to having sexual contact with the child and being aware that she was a runaway. The girl informed authorities that she felt safest after being rescued and taken to the hospital.

Crumity has been charged with statutory sexual assault on a victim aged 8–11 years old, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, sexual assault, and minor corruption.
