Man With HIV Accused Of Raping Children And Spreading Disease: Officials Confirm

A man with HIV accused of raping children was apprehended by the Memphis Safe Task Force Thursday, the U.S. Marshals Service confirmed.

The task force conducted a coordinated operation Thursday morning to arrest Derrick Cole, 46.

Cole is charged with many felonies, including suspected criminal exposure to HIV, sexual battery by an authority figure, statutory rape by an authority figure, and chronic sexual abuse of a child, among others.

These allegations result from a grand jury indictment issued in August 2024.
