A North Texas man suspected of committing 23 retail thefts across the region, mostly targeting Target stores, has been apprehended and charged, according to the Watauga Police Department.
Winston Love, 28, was taken into arrest without incident on Friday, October 31, following a brief standoff at his residence.
Multi-County Retail Theft Ring
At around 5 p.m., police responded to a theft call at the Target store at 8000 Denton Highway.
Love is suspected of stealing at least 23 items from Target stores in Texas, including Dallas, Watauga, Irving, Plano, Fort Worth, Flower Mound, Lewisville, Frisco, Grapevine, Euless, Arlington, Mansfield, Temple, and Harker Heights, in the past two months.
The stolen item is estimated to be worth more than $37,000, with many of the crimes including Lego merchandise.
Watauga police suspect Love is part of a wider organized retail stealing organization that operates in both Texas and Oklahoma.
Love is charged with state jail felony theft and was discovered to have eight outstanding felony warrants for theft-related charges in Tarrant, Dallas, and Rockwall counties. He was transported to the North Richland Hills Detention Center. He has since been placed into Tarrant County Jail. His link has not yet been established.
Watauga Police executed a search warrant at the home where he was staying on November 1, the day after his arrest. During the search, officers discovered further stolen stuff, illegal narcotics, one car, and around $5,000 in cash.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have indicated that additional charges may be filed when evidence is examined.
