19-year-old Sentenced To 50 Years In Prison After Shooting, Killing ‘Mentor’ In Landover

A 19-year-old man will serve 50 years in prison for murdering his “mentor” in Landover last February, the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday.

Raymond Terry III, 19, of Landover, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime in the shooting death of Vincent Fisher III, 26, of Landover.

Terry, according to authorities, shot Fisher when the two were inside an SUV in the 2000 block of East Marlboro Avenue on February 16th. According to the state’s attorney’s office, Terry shot Fisher from the backseat of his SUV, and another person was inside the vehicle during the shooting but was uninjured.

Terry was 18 years old when he was shot.

“This case is especially heartbreaking because the victim saw potential in the defendant and tried to guide him toward a better path,” said State’s Attorney Tara Jackson. “Instead, that trust and mentorship were met with unimaginable violence.”

“Today’s sentence reflects the gravity of this betrayal and the devastating loss suffered by Mr. Fisher’s family and our community,” she continued.

Jackson went on to applaud prosecutors and law officers who “worked tirelessly” on the case to ensure Fisher’s family got justice.

“My office remains committed to seeking justice for those whose lives are taken by senseless acts of violence,” she said.
