A pair of suburban men are facing felony charges after police say they stole a car from a man in the city and were apprehended about an hour later on a Chicago-area highway.
Chicago police identified the suspects as Macharion Autry Moore, 24, of Park Forest, and Davion Riggins, 25, of Chicago Heights.
According to investigators, the men grabbed a vehicle by force from a 32-year-old man on Wednesday in the 4800 block of South Cornell Ave. on Chicago’s South Side. The Robbery Task Force pursued the suspects to Interstate 57 in south suburban Matteson, where they were apprehended at 5:55 p.m., approximately an hour after the carjacking.
Police did not provide information on how the suspects were identified.
Both men were charged with a felony count of vehicular hijacking. Their detention hearing is planned for Friday in the Leighton Criminal Courthouse.
