Hammond Men Charged With Kidnapping, Armed Robbery After Victim Lured To Hammond Home

Two Hammond men, 18-year-old Robert Edmond Herron Jr. and 20-year-old Nehemiah Jerell Ameer Prince, have been charged in Lake County after allegedly pointing guns at a man’s head, forcing him into his own car, and forcing him to drive to an ATM before taking the vehicle.

According to authorities, the incident began the morning of November 7, 2025, when a Hammond Police detective was dispatched to a home in the 400 block of Waltham Street after a man reported being robbed and his vehicle stolen. The man informed officers that he was led to the house by a school classmate he knew as “Robert,” who asked him to use marijuana, potentially buy some, and take pictures.

He said that “Robert”—later identified as Herron—had seen his Instagram stories where he flaunted big sums of cash and wanted to utilize him in photos and videos. When he arrived, no one was home, but Herron instructed him to proceed to the side door. As soon as he knocked, he claims Herron grabbed him and dragged him into the basement, where Herron and another man, eventually identified as Nehemiah Prince, pointed weapons at him and demanded money.

According to the affidavit, Herron and Prince held firearms to his head and threatened him before forcing him into his vehicle. Prince allegedly drove while Herron sat in the back seat, pointing a gun at him. According to court records, they instructed him to take cash from an ATM at the Express Food Mart at 6031 Hohman Avenue.

Surveillance footage from the store shows the man coming with the two suspects and entering together. Once inside, he refused to withdraw money, stating that they would “just have to shoot him.” According to the affidavit, Herron and Prince left him at the store and drove away in his vehicle. He flagged down a passerby, who phoned the cops on his behalf.

Detectives responding to the Waltham Street residence saw three individuals who matched the suspect descriptions leaving the house and walking away in various directions. All three were stopped and detained. Detectives used surveillance footage from the Express Food Mart to confirm the suspects’ identities as Herron and Prince. A search of the basement where Prince was staying yielded two Glock magazines but no firearm.

Both suspects were charged on November 8, 2025:
