On May 27, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of Vine Street in the city of Wisconsin Dells, where a 47-year-old male and a 36-year-old man, both from Romania, were detained after evidence was gathered in connection with the investigation. Police discovered skimmers, components for constructing skimmers, and numerous other items that were deemed as evidence.

Authorities believe that skimmers are installed inside the Kwik Trip establishments located on Broadway in Wisconsin Dells, West Munroe Avenue in Lake Delton, and West Pine Street in West Baraboo. Investigators believe the two suspects placed and recovered the skimmers between May 17 and 23 between Wisconsin Dells and Lake Delton. Law authorities confiscated the skimmer at the Baraboo location, and the accused were unable to reclaim it.

Police advised anyone who used an ATM at any of the affected Kwik Trip shops to contact their banking institution to check if any fraud was identified. If fraudulent activity occurred, they want it to be reported to police enforcement.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation, Lake Delton Police Department, and Sauk County Sheriff’s Office all assisted with the investigation.
