Boy, 11, Shot By His Cousin While Playing With Guns In Pennsylvania

An 11-year-old boy was shot while playing with firearms with his cousin in Marion Township, according to KDKA.

Police responded to a home on Herman Road about 11:30 a.m. Friday after receiving a report of a child being shot in the stomach. The medical helicopter transported the boy to UPMC Children’s Hospital. Officials reported that the boy needed surgery, but they have not disclosed his current health status.

According to Beaver County District Attorney Nate Bible, the boy and his 14-year-old cousin accessed a gun safe after discovering the key. Inside, there were two firearms. One was unusable, but the other, a .22 caliber, was loaded. While handling the weapon, the 14-year-old fired it, striking his cousin.

According to the findings, the results indicate that the shooting was an accident. The inquiry is still underway, and it’s unknown whether charges will be made.
