Officials in Texas recently arrested two men for allegedly repeatedly raping a 12-year-old girl, as well as two women who allegedly pretended to help the child before abusing her further.
An ICE news release states that the child’s Honduran mother illegally brought her into the United States in 2014.
Felix Bustillo Diaz, a 49-year-old illegal immigrant from Honduras, reportedly abandoned the child while serving as her sponsor. The child is Bustillo Diaz’s grandniece.
Bustillo Diaz and Jose Gerber-Rivera, a 45-year-old Salvadoran national, are both charged with repeatedly raping the girl.
According to ICE, the child was able to flee with the assistance of Brenda Garcia, 38, and Tania Garcia, 37, both Houston residents, who “falsely told her they were rescuing her from sexual abuse.”
The women allegedly zip-tied, beat, tortured, and malnourished the girl. They also allegedly compelled her to do manual chores for them.
On October 3, both women were arrested on charges of felony child injury, unlawful restraint, and invasive visual recordings.
Rivera was arrested Nov. 4.
Bustillo was held by ICE for immigration violations at the Montgomery Processing Center before being transported into the custody of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office on Nov. 5.
The inquiry is ongoing, ICE added.
