Convicted murderer charged with killing child rapist in his Pennsylvania jail cell

State police have formally charged the SCI Albion inmate who they say strangled his cellmate to death in late October.

According to court paperwork, Dylan Lesnik, 33, was charged with homicide on December 2.

In an interview with Pennsylvania State Police, Lesnik admitted to suffocating 25-year-old Andy Ortiz in their cell with his arms.

Surveillance footage within the prison also revealed that no one entered or exited their cell near the time of the killing.

Lesnik was receiving a life sentence for slashing his pregnant girlfriend’s ear and neck with a knife and then killing his neighbor in late 2020.

Lesnik allegedly told investigators during their interview that because he was already serving a life sentence, a further prison term for Ortiz’s murder made no difference to him.

Lesnik is currently waiting for his preliminary arraignment.

Ortiz has been at SCI Albion since 2022, having been transferred from SCI Phoenix after pleading guilty to raping a child.
