Ohio – Drug Bust: Troopers Recover $546,000 And 46 Pounds of Cocaine on U.S. 35 This Week

A major narcotics seizure in southern Ohio has sparked statewide interest after troopers discovered 46 pounds of probable cocaine during a traffic stop on US Route 35 this week.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the discovery occurred on December 3, 2025, during what began as a routine stop in Jackson County. Troopers reported that the drug, suspected to be cocaine, has a street value of $546,000.

According to the OSHP, the event highlights the agency’s continuous efforts to combat drug trafficking on Ohio’s major roads. The State Patrol highlighted that U.S. Route 35 is a heavily trafficked corridor for commuter, business, and interstate travel, making it a regular target of enforcement activities targeted at intercepting large-scale drug transit.

There were no other details revealed about the driver, any passengers, or any charges, and authorities did not say whether arrests were made. Troopers said the investigation is still ongoing, with more developments likely as evidence is reviewed.

The organization also used the statement to encourage the public to contribute to road safety by reporting drunk or suspicious driving. According to the OSHP, drivers can contact the patrol’s dispatch center by dialing #677 from their mobile phones.

Law enforcement officials in Ohio have repeatedly emphasized the necessity of traffic enforcement in detecting drug-related behavior. Large seizures like this one, they claim, are frequently the consequence of routine stops that lead to further investigation.

This case is still under examination, and more information will be shared as it becomes available.
