A Mesa man has been sentenced to prison for selling fentanyl pills to a person who later died from an overdose in the East Valley.
Dominik I. Lopez, 24, was sentenced to 108 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to fentanyl distribution that resulted in death, according to the United States Attorney’s Office in Arizona.

In March 2020, a man was discovered dead in an apartment in Gilbert from fentanyl toxicity. Prosecutors said the victim contacted Lopez using the Whisper app, and Lopez sold him four fentanyl pills for $40.
According to prosecutors, the victim swallowed one pill before overdosing and dying.
Lopez will be placed on three years of supervised release after serving his prison sentence.
