A Lake Panasoffkee man was arrested after breaking a window to enter his father’s residence, where he knew he was not welcome.

A deputy responded to a trespass complaint at a home on Commander Road in Leesburg around 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, June 1, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The victim informed dispatch that he was out of town and that his son, Jake Adam Boyce, 30, was on his porch.

The victim did not want Boyce at the house because of previous concerns. Boyce became aware of this fact following a recent occurrence on Friday, May 30. He did not live with the victim, but after being evicted from his prior apartment, he began visiting her home, according to the report.

Upon arrival, the deputy noticed Boyce’s vehicle on the property. He approached the home and noticed a piece of baggage on the screened-in porch. Walking around to the other side of the porch, he noticed an open screen door, according to the report.

Inside the screened-in porch, there was a door to the residence with a cracked glass window. According to the report, after the deputy made his statements, Boyce calmly strolled outside to speak.

Boyce stated that he understood the victim did not want him there, but he was unclear where to go. Because no one was home last night, he had to shatter the glass to get in, costing $500 in damage. He was eventually jailed, according to the article.

Boyce was arrested for criminal mischief (first degree) and burglary of an unoccupied dwelling. He was taken to Lake County Jail, and bond was set at $2,000.
