A woman linked to the theft of memorial wreaths from a Mississippi cemetery has been arrested.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Angie Dillon was apprehended following an inquiry into the disappearance of tributes meant to honor fallen soldiers.
The Sheriff’s Office Public Relations Department said that Dillon faces various charges linked to the incident:
- Petty Larceny
- Receiving Stolen Property
- Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor
Officials say the investigation began after reports appeared that wreaths put as memorials to veterans were illegally taken from the grounds of Osyka Cemetery. Local authorities expressed a heightened sense of concern over the situation, stressing that the nature of the memorials made the theft especially insulting to the community and the families of the deceased.
While the arrest is a significant development in the investigation, investigators have yet to reveal any information about the recovery of the wreaths or the particular involvement of the minor mentioned in the charges.
