Mathiew Allen Giddins, 42, of Illinois, is facing additional felony child molestation charges following a Lake County investigation into allegations of many incidents that occurred several years ago.
According to court records, the inquiry began after claims were made in 2019 about instances in Lake County. As part of the inquiry, detectives reviewed previous police reports and conducted forensic interviews.
According to court documents, the victim, who was 12 years old at the time of disclosure, recounted being molested on several occasions beginning when she was around 10 years old. According to records, the victim was not Giddins’ biological child, but he had previously been in a relationship with the victim’s mother and frequently cared for her children.
Investigators documented claims of occurrences that allegedly occurred at homes in Crown Point and Merrillville. The claims were made known during a forensic interview and subsequent interviews as part of the inquiry.
Charges filed on December 16, 2025:
• Child Molesting (Defendant at Least 21 Years of Age) – Level 1 Felony
• Child Molesting (Fondling or Touching, Child Under 14) – Level 4 Felony
• Child Molesting (Fondling or Touching, Child Under 14) – Level 4 Felony
Court records also show Giddins has another pending child molestation case in Lake County.
