A man accused of beating his elderly mother to death inside her Lower East Side apartment has been taken into custody.
Wei Hou was apprehended by US Marshals near Albany on Friday after investigators discovered he had fled New York City.

Hou is charged with second-degree murder in the killing of his 76-year-old mother, Zhu Hou, whose body was discovered in her Knickerbocker Village apartment on December 18.
Officials said monitoring and investigative activities led them to the Castle Inn motel in Schodack, New York, where Hou was thought to be staying.
Before being apprehended, Hou holed himself up in a motel room and threatened suicide, according to authorities.
Hou was treated for injuries sustained during the arrest and will be transferred back to New York City for arraignment on Friday.
The police have not revealed the motivation in the case.
According to officials, Hou has a significant criminal history in many jurisdictions and was under supervision from the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision at the time of his arrest for a felony narcotics offense.
