A 21-year-old was taken into custody for driving 62 MPH over the speed limit in Central Florida.
A deputy from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office recently observed a black Lexus IS250 driving very quickly on US 27 in the Waverly area. A radar scan of the Lexus revealed that it was moving at 122 MPH in a 60 MPH zone, more than double the limit.
According to law enforcement, the driver of the Lexus must have seen the patrol car because his speed dropped dramatically but remained at 104 MPH when he passed the deputy.
A traffic stop was conducted.
The deputy made contact with the driver, Alexis Miguel Ocasio Garcia, 21, of Davenport. and briefed him about the reason for the traffic stop.
Alexis stated he was aware of his speed and made no excuses. He apologized and requested a warning, according to PCSO.
Alexis Ocasio Garcia was detained and sent to the Sheriff’s Processing Center. He was charged with dangerous excessive speeding.
