Police in Hendricks County apprehended a man driving a stolen vehicle after a 110 mph police chase on Christmas Day.
According to the probable cause affidavit, a sheriff’s deputy observed a stolen Kia Optima at State Road 267 and Stafford Road. The driver refused to stop, and a brief police chase ensued, culminating in the stolen vehicle colliding with another automobile near the intersection of E Main Street and Carr Road in Plainfield. According to court documents, the car was traveling at 100 mph just before hitting the ground.
The driver, Eniakin Odutayo, was apprehended after attempting to flee the vehicle.
He was then sent to Eskenazi Hospital with a lacerated forehead and shattered kneecap.
The driver of the vehicle hit by the Kia was also sent to Eskenazi for minor injuries and a concussion. There were no other injuries.
According to online court records, Odutayo is facing nine accusations, including fleeing the scene of an accident, resisting police, and auto theft.
As of Tuesday afternoon, he was still in the Hendricks County jail. His immigration status is currently on hold, according to court documents available online.
A pretrial hearing is slated for 8:30 p.m. on February 5.
