Harris County treasurer apprehended, accused of breaking into car

The Harris County treasurer was apprehended on Saturday after being accused of breaking into a vehicle, according to court records.

Carla Wyatt has been charged with motor vehicle burglary, a minor offense. Wyatt is scheduled to make her first court appearance on Friday.

Court documents state that Wyatt broke into the vehicle with the purpose of stealing.

Wyatt has been arrested previously. Court records show she was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in 2023. Prosecutors indicated that her blood alcohol level was at least 15.

Court documents show that she violated her bond conditions twice in that case.

The first occurred in January 2024, when she failed to install an interlock device, according to court records.

The second occurred in March 2024, when she blew a.092 reading on the interlock device, according to the bond condition violation report.

The charge was dropped when she finished a pretrial diversion program.
