Texas Authorities Seize Nearly 60 Pounds Of Meth During Traffic Stop

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized nearly 60 pounds of suspected methamphetamine during a traffic stop along Interstate 40 in Carson County. On September 24, a DPS trooper stopped a 2005 Jeep Cherokee for a traffic violation near Amarillo.

During the stop, the trooper discovered several plastic-wrapped packages of suspected methamphetamine hidden inside the vehicle’s gasoline tank, according to a DPS press release. The DPS Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Special Agents and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agents were approached for assistance in the investigation, and the DEA took over the case.

The driver, 28-year-old Alexis Garcia of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was arrested and placed into the Randall County Jail for felony possession of controlled substances. The pills were purportedly carried from Texas to Oklahoma, according to the source.
