According to police, a Daytona Beach man left a trail of damage during a South Florida criminal spree.
Residents were taken aback by the damage done and the suspected crook’s brazenness.
Police say Imani Carey first targeted establishments at the Lauderhill Mall; the 27-year-old allegedly stole a cash box and some footwear before fleeing.
Minutes later, police claimed he made his way down the street to a Dollar General and tossed a rock at the door before it even opened. When the rock didn’t work, he tried again, officials claimed.
When he couldn’t get through the glass, police say Carey got inside the store manager’s truck and crawled out with a lug wrench, which he then used to try to break through the door.
He gave up after a minute, leaving a giant mess, according to investigators.
Lauderhill police claimed they responded and apprehended Carey as he was preparing to throw a large rock at the City Trend store in the Lauderhill Mall.
Authorities caught Carey and are currently investigating his whereabouts and activities.
Police said it’s unclear whether he’s involved in other smash and grabs.
Carey declined to appear before a bail court judge and remained in custody at the Broward County Jail as of Monday.
