A local doctor is on leave after being taken into jail on various charges, including child endangerment.
Dr. Hanuman Gowda, 31, was detained Friday and put into Wood County Jail. According to records, he is charged with felonious assault, endangering children – abuse, and endangering children – posing a substantial risk of damage.
A spokesperson for ProMedica confirmed in a statement that Gowda is a resident physician and is currently on leave.
“We are aware that Dr. Hanuman Gowda was recently arrested in Ohio and charged with crimes unrelated to his workplace. ProMedica has placed the resident physician on administrative leave. We will work with and support the involved authorities as appropriate. The safety and care of our patients and their families remain our top priority.”

According to records, Gowda is still being held without bond. His next court date is scheduled for January 12.
