Man In Custody After Missing Monroe County Girl Located With Him

A man is currently in custody after a missing girl who ran away from her Frenchtown Township home was found with him.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reported the 14-year-old girl missing on Friday. Her family was able to track down her last known location, a Meijer in Monroe.

Deputies arrived at the store after the girl had left, but they were able to collect security video showing the girl and a man getting into a vehicle and leaving. License plate readers were used to track the car, and deputies discovered it was an Uber.

Deputies tracked down the man and girl after receiving information from the driver who dropped them off in Monroe. The man was arrested for sheltering a minor fugitive, and the girl was restored to her family.

It’s unclear whether the man will face any additional charges.

His identity is withheld because he has not been formally charged.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at 734-243-7070 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP (www.1800speakup.org).
