Illegal Immigrant Apprehended for Tailing Bank Customers And Stealing Their Money; Suspect Turned Over to ICE Agents

The Major Case Squad reports that a College Point man was arrested on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 9:10 a.m. for several grand larcenies in Nassau County.

Detectives say a thorough investigation led to the arrest of Defendant Fabio Diaz Sierra, 46, of 12011 12th Avenue, for his role in the following occurrences.

On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, a victim withdrew money from Chase Bank at 2360 Jericho Turnpike in Garden City Park and drove to Atlantic Avenue, where he parked his vehicle. The center console contained the stolen money when the victim returned to his vehicle.

On Thursday, November 13, 2025, a victim withdrew money from TD Bank at 540 Jericho Turnpike in Mineola and drove to a parking lot on Jericho Turnpike in Garden City Park to park his vehicle. The thieves had broken the front passenger window and stolen the money when the victim returned to his vehicle.

On Friday, November 21, 2025, a victim withdrew money from Chase Bank at 2360 Jericho Turnpike in Garden City Park and drove to a parking lot on Franklin Avenue in Garden City to park his vehicle. When the victim returned to his vehicle, the passenger window had been damaged, and the money, along with other goods, had been taken.

Defendant Fabio Diaz Sierra is charged with three (3) counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and two (2) charges of third-degree criminal mischief. The defendant was released on an appearance ticket and placed under the custody of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) authorities.
