A Lima man was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison after being convicted of two counts of rape.
Sonny Cobb, 46, was convicted of two counts of rape, both first-degree crimes. Crime Victim Services gave testimonials from the two victims in court, revealing years of sexual abuse that began when they were less than ten years old.
“I refuse to keep silenced because of the 14 years that I endured just to save your skin. I hope from the deepest pit of my soul that you are sentenced to life, because I’m deathly afraid you’d turn up in my life again otherwise,” a Crime Victim Services court representative read on behalf of one of the victims.
Cobb had previously faced 37 further charges of rape, 17 counts of sexual violence, and one count of gross sexual imposition. These charges were withdrawn as part of a plea agreement.
