A Calumet City man was arrested early Thursday for allegedly robbing and assaulting another man in downtown Chicago.
Cornelius Bates, 42, was arrested at 5:57 a.m. in the 0-100 block of East Lake Street, according to police.
Bates is accused of robbing and beating a 44-year-old man in the 300 block of North Lower Michigan Avenue less than an hour ago.
Bates is accused of aggravated violence in a public place and robbery, all of which are crimes.
He is scheduled to appear in court for a detention hearing on Friday.
