Leesburg man apprehended after bar brawl sends woman to hospital

A Leesburg man was apprehended for battery after throwing glasses and shoving another customer during a bar brawl.

According to an arrest report from the Tavares Police Department, the argument at the Golden Ox, situated at 305 E Burleigh Blvd., began when a female bartender witnessed 50-year-old Stacey Allen Hatch arguing with a woman on the night of Friday, Jan. 9.

During the fight, he moved close to this woman’s face and flung a drink out of her hand at the bartender. It hit her right breast, and then another glass hit her face. According to the complaint, one of these glasses shattered upon impact with the floor.

Another female customer attempted to interfere, but Hatch shoved her to the ground and into the wall, hitting her head and both elbows. She then grabbed his leg, and he punched her in the head to get away. She was later transferred to AdventHealth Waterman, 1000 Waterman Way, for treatment of her injuries, according to the complaint.

Four people witnessed this, and all of them attested to seeing Hatch throw the other client to the ground. Officers were also told he drove to 7-Eleven, 219 E Burleigh Blvd., probably in a white Chevrolet. According to the report, they were able to arrest Hatch despite not finding the vehicle.

He was charged with two charges of violence and criminal mischief (property damage under $200). He was taken to the Lake County Jail and freed after posting a $2,000 bond.
