Teen boy apprehended for allegedly shooting brother at Toledo apartment

Toledo police apprehended a teenager on Sunday night after he allegedly shot his brother in the head.

Authorities confirm to 13 Action News that a 16-year-old boy was booked into the juvenile justice center on a felonious assault charge after reportedly shooting his younger brother in a Toledo apartment.

13 Action News does not identify minors accused of crimes unless the courts allow them to be tried as adults.

On January 18, police responded to the North Towne Village Apartments shortly after 8 p.m. The shooting took place inside an apartment, according to a Toledo police sergeant.

The youngster was rushed to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, but he was stabilized, authorities said Sunday night. His name and age haven’t been revealed.

Police say the 911 call originated from inside the residence. They stated authorities detained some persons for interrogation. Investigators on the site informed 13 Action News teams that there was no ongoing threat to the public.

It’s unknown what prompted the shooting.

The adolescent is set to appear before a judge on Tuesday morning.
