A man accused of secretly recording women renting rooms in his Las Vegas home was sentenced in court on Tuesday.
Jose Reyes, 49, pled guilty in a plea deal to unlawfully capturing, distributing, displaying, or publishing an image of another person’s private person.

A judge sentenced Reyes to three months in jail and nine months on probation for the gross misdemeanor.
Reyes must also undergo a psychosexual examination and receive the required treatment.
During the sentencing, the victims made tearful statements about the pain Reyes inflicted by secretly recording them in their bedrooms.
Natalia Giordano stated that the punishment does not reflect the long-term consequences of what occurred to them.
“This is extremely unfair. Only three months for what he did to us, and it will live on in our memories forever. Natalia Giordano stated, “We’re going to be paranoid forever.”
Giordano and Sara Suarez Piedrahita had a very emotional day in court. Both women had been renting rooms in Reyes’ home for several months before discovering concealed cameras in April.
Suarez Piedrahita spoke through a translator about how the trauma had impacted her daily existence.
“Anxiety and tension. And staying alert all the while. And not being able to rest or be at peace even in a location where you should be safe,” she explained.
Reyes was also residing in the property at the time.
The victims informed News 3 that they discovered the cameras by mistake.
Giordano said she noticed something was incorrect when she tried to charge her laptop.
“When I tried to connect my computer, I found out that there were some sparks, so I tried to find any device on the internet that could help me to avoid any fire or anything,” according to her.
After conducting an online search, Giordano discovered that the device—a surge protector that had already been installed when she moved in—contained a hidden camera. That revelation prompted her to seek out more.
“I only found the two that were next to each side of my bed, and I also found a fake Wi-Fi extender that was right next to my bed so he could see everything clearly,” Giordano told CNN.
Giordano claimed she immediately notified Suarez Piedrahita.
Suarez Piedrahita then began exploring her own room, discovering clocks that also held tiny hidden cameras. The women removed one of the SD cards and discovered films and photos of bedrooms and other sections of the house.
That’s when they called the cops.
Giordano expressed uncertainty about the duration of the cameras’ presence. I’m certain that there were many other victims who had no idea they had been filmed,” Giordano said.
According to authorities, detectives discovered a nude video of Giordano among the files. They also discovered films dating back to 2023, including footage taken when the victims were not residing in the house.
Following a search request, officers uncovered 17 SD cards and many hidden cameras, including a clock with a hidden camera that was hooked directly into Reyes’ computer.
On Tuesday, Reyes pleaded guilty and apologized in court, using an interpreter.
“I want to say I am very, very sorry for the pain and the problem because of my terrible mistake to Natalia and Sara. I promise it won’t happen again,” Reyes informed them. “I would try to be a better person every day.”
Giordano and Suarez Piedrahita claim the apology was too late and did not compensate for their suffering. He understood exactly what he was doing. “It was not just a simple camera,” Giordano explained.
“It’s just ludicrous. He is going to do it again. Suarez Piedrahita stated that if justice is not served, he will do it again.
Giordano stated that five women had previously rented Suarez Piedrahita’s room before she moved in. She believes they may have also been recorded, although this has not been officially confirmed.
Reyes must surrender himself by Monday, January 26.
