Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Dallas arrested Alberth Jose Simancas-Garcia, a Venezuelan national and known member of the Tren de Aragua gang, who is wanted in Peru for questioning in connection with a homicide. ICE took custody of Simancas-Garcia on January 7, after he entered the United States illegally.
Simancas-Garcia, who entered the United States at an unknown time and location without being inspected by immigration officials, was ordered removed by an immigration judge in Dallas on August 18, 2025. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Dallas received information about Simancas-Garcia’s wanted status in Peru for a homicide inquiry from HSI Houston in December 2025. Peruvian officials have allegedly linked him to other violent crimes, such as armed robbery, assault, and firearm violations.
“This individual illegally entered the United States and is a known member of a violent gang,” said HSI Dallas Special Agent in Charge Travis Pickard. “We will continue our efforts to prioritize public safety of our communities by arresting and removing criminal alien offenders from our streets.”
According to ICE, 70% of its arrests involve individuals with criminal accusations or convictions, demonstrating the agency’s dedication to addressing public safety threats. Simancas-Garcia was arrested by HSI Dallas, ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations Dallas, and the Texas Department of Public Safety. He will be held in detention pending immigration proceedings.
