Chicago Man Faces Attempted Murder Charge After Shooting Victim During Fight

A man has been charged in connection with a shooting that broke out during a fight with another man last September in Chicago’s Gage Park neighborhood.

On September 11, at about 10 p.m., David Gutierrez, 26, reportedly shot and critically injured a 24-year-old man in the 5100 block of South Campbell Avenue. According to police, Gutierrez argued with the victim before pulling out a revolver and shooting him in the chest before fleeing the scene.

The victim was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition. Gutierrez was arrested on Tuesday afternoon in the Marquette Park neighborhood. He faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm.

Gutierrez’s detention hearing is planned for Wednesday.
