On January 19, Baltimore Police responded at 24 S. Bernice Street in response to a missing people report.

According to the documents, police spoke with Johnson’s sister, who stated that she had not seen or heard from him in more than two weeks and was concerned for his safety.

Officers also spoke with Johnson’s roommate and renter at 24 S. Bernice Street, who confirmed that he lived there with his partner.

His roommate told authorities that he had flown out of town for the holidays and had not seen Johnson since he returned.

Later, police facetimed Eric Jones Jr. Jones informed them that on the night of January 2, 2026, he had a significant argument with Johnson, and Johnson “stormed out” of the residence.

Jones closed by stating that he has not seen Johnson since the argument.

According to Baltimore Police, the homicide team was called in because the circumstances surrounding the disappearance raised suspicions.

The preliminary inquiry found a follow-up to a questionable 911 call from a neighboring resident.

Police say the resident reported hearing a male outside screaming “Oh my God, Oh my God” several times.

Looking out the window, she noticed a male stagger from 24 S. Bernice St., clutching his chest. The man eventually collapsed between two parked autos.

She added a second male would emerge from the house at 24 S. Bernice St. and examine the collapsed male.

The second male fetched a folding cart from the front yard and loaded the unresponsive male into it.

The second male returned inside the house. Shortly after, he returned outside, fully dressed, and pulled the cart down the street toward an alley.

She claims she spotted the second male the next morning (Jan. 3), scrubbing the front steps and pavement in front of 24 S. Bernice St.

Detectives later contacted with Johnson’s sister, who stated that her brother told her in recent discussions that his connection with Jones had deteriorated during the previous year.

He told her that their disputes had occasionally turned violent. Johnson also assured his sister that if anything happened to him, Eric Jones Jr. would be held responsible.

Detectives eventually acquired a search order for the home on S. Bernice Street.

During their investigation, luminol was employed to locate blood in the house.

Positive reactions in the bedroom, living room, and front entry indicated the presence of blood or cleansed bloodstain patterns.

The homicide unit called in Eric Jones Jr. for questioning. Jones voluntarily gave up his Miranda rights.

Jones confessed to getting into a physical struggle with Johnson and stabbed him several times, according to criminal documents.

Police claim he admitted to putting Johnson in a wagon, concealing it with a bag, and transporting his body to Leakin Park.

He said he covered Johnson’s body with stones.

Jones utilized Google Earth to show detectives where he had dumped the body. Jones and detectives wearing body cameras headed to the specified place.

Johnson’s body was retrieved by police. The Baltimore Police Crime Lab and the Chief Medical Examiner inspected the scene.
