Many things can go wrong during a traffic stop. However, the brief kidnapping of a police officer is not a common occurrence. An Ohio truck driver fled the scene with an officer inside the cabin. This added kidnapping to a lengthy list of charges.

Police officers in Dayton, Ohio, initiated a traffic stop after noticing many offenses. For example, the truck’s window tint is prohibited, and its tags have expired. The driver pulled over near East Third and North Keowee streets.
According to the Dayton Daily News, officers discovered that the suspect, 46-year-old Gary L. Pullen, has a lengthy criminal record involving weapons.
An officer approached the vehicle and noticed Pullen was hiding items in a black bag. He was asked to leave the vehicle since he did not have a license. After being searched, Pullen attempted to get back into his truck.
Body camera footage shows the cop attempting to pull Pullen back out of the truck while leaning inside. Then Pullen speeds off, leaving the cop dangling out of the cab.
A brief police chase ensued before Pullen crashed into a snowbank about 1,500 feet from the traffic stop. He was quickly taken into prison. According to reports, the officer believed Pullen was grabbing for a firearm.
Lieutenant Eric Sheldon shares, “The suspect had marijuana and suspected narcotics in his possession in the black bag that the officer saw the suspect manipulating had a loaded firearm inside.”
Pullen is facing accusations of kidnapping, failure to comply with a police officer’s command or signal, impeding official business, and three firearms counts.
