Two 14-year-old boys were apprehended late Tuesday, hours after police say they stole a woman’s vehicle at gunpoint on the city’s South Side.
The arrests happened at about 11:11 p.m. in the West Town area, with one in the 1600 block of West Hubbard Street and the other in the 1700 block of West Kinzie Street.
According to police, the boys were recognized as suspects in a carjacking that occurred around two hours earlier in the 7500 block of South Emerald Avenue in the Gresham neighborhood.
Police said a 48-year-old woman had her car taken at gunpoint.
One of the boys is facing three felony charges: vehicular hijacking with a firearm, attempted armed robbery, and aggravated battery with the discharge of a firearm. Three outstanding warrants also sought the man’s arrest, according to police.
The second boy has a felony charge of vehicular hijacking with a firearm. Police said he also had an outstanding warrant.
