A missing Wood County woman was discovered dead Saturday in a rural area of the county, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.
Laurie Harberson, 76, was placed under a silver alert after being reported missing on January 23. The alert was dismissed after her body was recovered in a wooded area about a half-mile from her car.
Deputies said Harberson’s SUV was discovered Friday stuck on a Wood County Electric power line near County Road 4539 by a person fixing corn feeders on nearby property. A search of the area was carried out, but Harberson was not found until Saturday.
Officials said Harberson is believed to have died from exposure related to the recent winter storm. There was no foul play reported.
The investigation is underway.
