Arizona Man Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison For Trafficking Meth

A man was sentenced to ten years in prison after being found guilty of transporting a deadly drug for sale last week.

According to a press release from the Arizona Attorney General on Friday, Emilio Lopez, 23, was convicted of a class two felony on behalf of a Mexican drug trafficking organization.

Lopez transported 30 pounds of methamphetamine on July 18, 2025. When police attempted to arrest him, he fled and was arrested shortly after crashing his vehicle into a local restaurant drive-thru and another restaurant, according to authorities.

Lopez has two previous narcotics trafficking convictions in Yuma County. He received 3.5 years in prison after being convicted of attempting to sell or transport narcotic substances while on probation in August 2021.

The repeat offender was released from community supervision in May 2025, two months before perpetrating the class two felony, according to authorities.

“This defendant has shown that he poses a serious threat to our communities,” Attorney General Kris Mayes said. “Arizonans can rest easier knowing this repeat drug trafficker is off our streets and behind bars for the next decade.”
