Officials reported northbound traffic on the interstate was delayed due to an unrelated vehicle fire near the Sun City Center exit. That’s when the tractor-trailer driver attempted an illegal U-turn into the southbound lanes.

However, authorities say the tractor-trailer collided with a Toyota Corolla driven by a 28-year-old Parrish man. That driver sustained significant injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

Rosa was not wounded in the crash and was sent to jail.
