Houston Murder Suspect Crashes Vehicle With Toddler Following Texas Police Pursuit Near Border

According to a law enforcement source familiar with the incident, Harris County (Houston) Sheriff’s Office investigators, the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division, and Highway Patrol troopers discovered Alcantar’s vehicle on Wednesday near Veterans Boulevard in the Texas-Mexico border town of Pharr. According to a source who was not authorized to speak to the media, Alcantar quickly ran from officials after they attempted to halt his vehicle. Alcantar was detained after smashing his pickup truck into numerous Texas Highway Patrol vehicles and a stone wall while driving his 3-year-old child.

The pursuit engaged other law enforcement agencies, including the Border Patrol, which assisted the principal pursuit officer. The pursuit proceeded into Edinburg, Texas, where Alcantar smashed his silver GMC pickup truck into a stone backyard gate on Eldora Road.

According to a law enforcement source, Alcantar received minor head and facial injuries. Alcantar’s three-year-old toddler was discovered in the vehicle and was not injured. Local law enforcement personnel handed over the boy to his relatives.

A photo sent to Breitbart Texas shows a bleeding Alcantar being inspected by first responders. Alcantar was transported to a local hospital for treatment. According to the source, Alcantar will be charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer, fleeing arrest, and one count of child endangerment, in addition to the current accusations stemming from the 2021 murder.

According to an Associated Press story, Alcantar is one of four family members accused of the murder of 29-year-old Eddie Clark in May 2021. Clark was killed near his Houston home, and investigators believe it was a case of mistaken identity.

According to officials, the family members mistook Clark’s vehicle for another that was suspected of committing vandalism on their property. Clark was shot and died as he fled from family members who attempted to block his car.
