2 People Dead After Crash Involving Semi-truck In Ohio

Two people were killed Friday morning in a three-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck on U.S. Route 30, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened shortly after 6 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. Route 30 and state Route 511. According to authorities, the crash involved a semi-tractor trailer and two passenger vehicles.

Two people were pronounced dead on the scene. A third individual injured in the incident was taken to a hospital for treatment. No other information about the victims has been released.

Following the crash, U.S. Route 30 was closed in both directions as emergency crews and investigators worked on the scene. The Ohio Department of Transportation asked vehicles to seek alternate routes and planned a detour around the closure.

The eastbound lanes reopened around 9:45 a.m., according to ODOT. Late Friday morning, all westbound lanes remained closed as crews cleared the scene.

Firefighters from Ashland and Hayesville responded to put out a vehicle fire and help with rescue efforts.

The crash is still under investigation.
