A New York State Department of Transportation employee was arrested after an investigation by the New York State Police.
According to State Police, Tina Barretta, 59, reportedly directed that around 10 tons of asphalt millings be loaded into a State DOT truck during working hours and then driven to a private residence in the Town of Rome.
The investigation determined that the asphalt millings were dumped without authority and were worth around $250.
On February 5, 2026, Barretta voluntarily surrendered to State Police for arrest and was charged with:
- Petit Larceny, Class A Misdemeanor
- Official Misconduct, Class A Misdemeanor
Barretta was processed and released with appearance tickets.
