The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Homicide & Robbery Unit arrested a woman from Central Florida for attempted murder after she shot her father.
Detectives from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Homicide & Robbery Unit recently arrested the woman for Attempted Murder in the First Degree after she shot her father.
Rogerio Nascimento and his estranged wife went to the Sheriff’s Administration Building at 10750 Ulmerton Road this month to swap child custody. Rogerio was accompanied by his sister, while his estranged wife was joined by four minor children and a friend.
During the encounter, Rogerio, his sister, and his estranged wife were standing outside their cars in the parking lot talking. According to detectives, three of the four children were afraid to leave the van.
Detectives report that the suspect, 28-year-old Gabriella Nascimento, arrived separately, exited her vehicle, and joined the conversation in the parking lot.
Gabriella is Rogerio’s biological daughter. Gabriella approached Rogerio with a semi-automatic firearm and shot him in the back, according to law enforcement.
Rogerio dashed toward the front lobby of the Sheriff’s Administration Building, and Gabriella pursued him on foot, aiming at him a second time but missing. Rogerio entered the front foyer and requested assistance. Gabriella collapsed on the sidewalk, dropped the pistol, and waited on the sidewalk near the parking lot until deputies arrested her.
Deputies took Rogerio to a hospital in critical but stable condition. There were no other injuries.
Gabriella was arrested and charged with attempted murder in the first degree. She was transferred to the Pinellas County Jail.
The inquiry is ongoing, according to local law enforcement.
