City garbage workers Tuesday afternoon discovered the body of a woman lying on the side of a dirt road who had been fatally shot in the Altgeld Gardens neighborhood.
It was about 12:15 p.m. as the truck traveled its regular route in the 600 block of East 134th Place when workers spotted her, lying “on the side of the dirt road in a prone position with multiple shell casings around her and multiple gunshot wounds to the victim’s body,” a police report said.
The report states that two witnesses heard gunshots at 9 p.m. Monday night.
The Chicago Fire Department dispatched paramedics to the scene, where the unidentified woman, who seemed to be in her 20s or 30s, was pronounced dead.
Area 2 detectives are looking into this.
