The man whose badly decomposed body was discovered in late September in a wooded area in Akron has been identified, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner.
Jacob Paul Weisgarber is 36 years old.

Weisgarber was sentenced to one year in prison in November 2024 after pleading guilty to resisting arrest, impeding official business, aggravated menacing, and inciting panic in connection with the September incident.
During the incident, he was dressed in a Halloween costume and a Jason mask, wielding a knife and dashing into traffic.
According to court documents, he was set to be released from Lorain Regional Prison on September 17, 2025, only 13 days before his death was discovered.
