The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department is investigating the latest killing, which occurred in the 4900 block of College Avenue on Saturday night.
One juvenile male is dead, and five others are injured after a shooting broke out inside a residence. A preliminary inquiry shows that an altercation occurred between unknown people at a social gathering. The altercation escalated, and shots were fired.
Officers were called to the scene shortly before 10:15 p.m. Saturday night. When they arrived, they discovered a juvenile male victim, over the age of 16, suffering from gunshot trauma. Officers attempted life-saving measures until EMS came, then transported him to a nearby hospital. The victim later died of his injuries.
According to KCPD, three other victims, one adult female and two juvenile teens, were found at the scene, all of whom were suffering from varied degrees of gunshot trauma. Two other victims, one adult female and one juvenile teen, arrived at surrounding hospitals via private conveyance, all with gunshot wounds.
The person of interest has yet to be identified, and no one is in custody at this time.
