Deputies from the Portage County Sheriff’s Office assisted Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers in their pursuit of a suspect with an active warrant on Friday.
According to the sheriff’s office’s social media post, OSHP troopers began a traffic stop on Interstate 76.
As deputies from the Portage Aggressive Crime Enforcement (PACE) Unit came to assist, they saw the trooper retire to his cruiser as the suspect fled the scene.
The suspect was identified as Joshua Collmar.
According to deputies, the pursuit lasted 32 minutes and reached speeds of more than 124 mph on I-76, I-80, Youngstown city streets, Canfield Township, and Boardman streets.
Collmar collided with an embankment during the pursuit, resulting in a flat tire and eventual stop on Tippecanoe Road.
Deputies hauled him into arrest without incident, according to the post.
Collmar had an active felony warrant out of Boardman Township for stealing, but his criminal record included the following charges:
- Domestic violence
- Domestic battery
- Resisting arrest
- Felonious assault
- Sexual battery
- Drug abuse
- Drug possession
- Various other drug-related offenses
