During the pursuit, deputies reported seeing objects thrown from the car on Route 218. The chase then continued to U.S. Route 7 near Gallipolis, where deputies said a handgun seemed to have been thrown from the car.

According to authorities, spike strips were deployed, disabling the vehicle, which subsequently crashed into a guardrail on Neighborhood Road in Green Township.

The driver, Amir Xavier Terrell Peake, 26, was charged with failing to comply with officers and possessing guns while disabled. According to jail records, Peake had active warrants for parole violations. The passenger, Silas Dangelo Hardiman, 21, was charged with tampering with evidence and possessing guns while on disability.

Both males were transported to Holzer Medical Center for treatment of their injuries sustained in the crash before being placed into the Gallia County Jail. According to investigators, a search of the vehicle revealed narcotics and a semi-automatic weapon. Deputies stated that additional charges may be filed pending a review by prosecutors.
