5 People Taken Into Custody After Police Chase Ends In Crash In Texas

Five people were taken into custody following a police chase that started in Ellis County early Tuesday morning and ended in a crash in West Fort Worth.

According to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department, at about 3:22 a.m., a deputy observed a vehicle shooting from the roadway near FM 875 and FM 663 in Midlothian. When the deputy conducted a traffic stop, the driver fled, resulting in a pursuit.

According to officials, the vehicle’s passengers continued to fire guns at deputies throughout the chase. The pursuit extended into neighboring jurisdictions, including Grand Prairie and Arlington, where other law enforcement agencies assisted.

Fort Worth police deployed tire spikes, causing the car to tumble on Camp Bowie Boulevard and bringing the chase to an end.

Four inmates were taken to nearby hospitals and are still in police custody. A fifth occupant was detained at the site but not sent to a hospital.

Authorities reported that the incident did not injure any deputies or cops. The investigation is underway.
